Devotional

"The Rock! His work is perfect, for all His ways are just. A trustworthy God who does no wrong, He is righteous and straight" Deuteronomy 32:4 CJB

"See now that I, yes, I, am He; and there is no other god beside me. I put to death, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal; no one saves from my hand!" Deuteronomy 32:39 CJB

Deuteronomy (Dvarim) 32 contains a song which God wanted Israel to know be heart so that they would remember to keep the law in order to avoid future consequences, and, should they fall, there was a future hope of restoration through whole-hearted repentance. Since this song is meant to serve as a constant reminder, it is not to be taken lightly. One of the utmost important daily reminders is mentioned in verses 4 and 39. God wants us to remember always that He is God: a perfect, trustworthy and righteous God. If He is perfect, that means all that He does is perfect as well. He is in absolute control of everything and He directs every path according to His will. If we understand this fully, then that means that we accept every decision God makes. It means that we rely on Him 100% and that we don't question or complain about the process or the outcome.

When we question or complain, we are taking on the role of a judge, as if saying that what God does isn't really trustworthy. That leads to doubt and consequently distances us from our Creator. Trusting and allowing God to take control not only demonstrates that we believe in Him, but also allows us to access true shalom (peace), just as Yeshua (Jesus) said:

"Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest."

Matthew 11:28
