"You are to remember everything of the way in which Adonai led you these forty years in the desert, humbling and testing you in order to know what was in your heart - whether you would obey His mitzvot (commandments) or not. He humbled you, allowing you to be hungry, and then fed you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had ever known, to make you understand that a person does not live on food alone but on everything that comes from the mouth of Adonai." Dvarim (Deuteronomy) 8:2,3
As a child of God, at some point in life, we will have to go through hardships, but even in those hardships, we must remain faithful to Torah (God's law) and continue to trust completely in Him. Just as God allowed Israel to be humbled by hunger and thrist, and then provided them with heavenly bread (manna) and water from the rock, God allows us to be humbled by the hardships we face in life, but He will always give us a solution to break free, that solution being an absolute blessing, granted that we remain faithful. Just as written by Paul in 1 Corinthians 10:13 "No temptation has seized you beyond what people normally experience, and God can be trusted not to allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear. On the contrary, along with the temptation he will also provide the way out, so that you will be able to endure."
God is ready to provide for and prosper His children, but we must show Him that we are faithful to Him no matter what. That we will obey Him no matter what. Understanding this concept of depending on God and His Word allow us to know that we are not just flesh, that responds to basic needs and carnal desires, but that we are a lot more than that; we are a spiritual being in need of a spiritual revival that only comes from the mouth of God. God's Word completes us, so we ought to live by it and study it every day.
